This is my second Substack newsletter… My media empire is expanding!
My first,
has 5,000 free subscribers, and growing fast.I could just start a new “section” on Karlstack, I suppose, rather than a whole new newsletter… The reason I don’t do that is that Karlstack subscribers would find it annoying to receive a weekly email about CBDC when they didn’t specifically opt-in. So, I decided to make this opt-in:
Thus, I set out again with 0 subscribers, to build a second thriving newsletter. I did it once, and I can do it again, and I can manage both at once. I am doing this largely because I think it makes good business sense; my audience contains thousands of economists & central bankers, and I have long been mulling over how to build a diversified portfolio of newsletters, and CBDC is the perfect fit for expansion. For starters, this niche is booming, and it’s only going to keep exploding in relevance over the next decade:
Furthermore, I believe there's a vast untapped market of people who hate CBDC with every fiber of their being, just like I do. The mainstream media doesn’t give these unserved billions of people what they want… the mainstream media is constantly tripping over themself to fawn over, and shill for, CBDC! It’s disgusting. It's a travesty, really. The mainstream media is nothing but a mouthpiece for the central bankers who are eagerly ushering in CBDCs. But fear not, my fellow CBDC-haters, for I am here to provide a safe haven for our dissenting voices. Together, we shall rise up and conquer the tyranny of the central bankers! Or, you know, just enjoy some witty and insightful newsletter content. Whichever floats your boat.
Perhaps you're one of those wacky Christians who believe that CBDC is the “mark of the beast” as prophesied in Revelation 13:16; I am not saying that I necessarily agree with this worldview, but I sympathize with the hundreds of millions of people who hold it, I take their concern seriously. My approach stands in stark contrast with the mainstream reporters at Bloomberg, NYT, and WaPo who seem to think it's a joke and would laugh in your face if you ever brought up “freedom” or “mark of the beast”. But fear not, my fellow CBDC-haters, for this newsletter is a safe haven for all, regardless of your belief in scripture.
I guess this CBDC-themed newsletter is my little way of being an anti-CBDC activist, my little way of fighting back, my little way of organizing a likeminded community of people want to stay informed on the latest CBDC developments every week.
Some folks think that journalists can't have opinions while also doing hard-hitting reporting, but I couldn't disagree more. Every journalist has a bias, and it's more honest to be upfront about it than to pretend otherwise.
More important than the business side of this newsletter decision is my burning autistic passion for how much I hate CBDCs, which I think will shine through in my blogging every week. Actually, I am afraid my blackpilled/nihilistic attitude will shine through too much as I chronicle humanity's enslavement. But hey, watching a train wreck in slow motion can be oddly entertaining, can't it?
So, here's the deal: every week, I'll keep you up-to-date on all the breaking CBDC news, summarizing it for you and providing my own commentary. And don't worry, I won't bore you with lengthy 10,000-word essays. Instead, I'll give you bite-sized nuggets of CBDC-related news in every weekly issue, maybe even in bullet points. And the best part? This Week in CBDC is entirely free. I might consider monetizing it down the road (sponsored crypto ads?), but let's get a few thousand subscribers first, shall we? Enjoy the free content, my friends.
Glad you're on this beat! Hope you do to CBDC what you did to the Ford Foundation! (Both seem like separate heads of the same vile hydra!)
this is the most important and exciting newsletter i have subscribed to this month, thanks for the content!
